Life's Little Mysteries [R'nd]
« on: 06 Mar 2016 at 11:03 PM »
B’jin stumbled down the hall, a skin of wine in one hand, and an overly full glass in the other; slung over his back in a slightly hazardous manner was his favoured guitar. Even in his rather inebriated state, the greenrider had the good class to drink from a well-made wineglass; after all – he was a Harper, even if he was stuck being a greenrider! Swaying across the hall, B’jin used his hip to knock open the door to R’nd’s Weyr and entered unsteadily.

While the green and bluerider were often seen sharing the Weyr, B’jin always referred to it as R’nd’s home; the majority of his own items and clothing were kept safely down on the bottom floor of the Weyr, where the Weyrling Barracks were found. His room was considerably larger than the Weyr R’nd had, if only because a huge chunk of it had to be set up as an office of sorts. Apparenly Weyrlingmasters had never quite qualified for an actual office, though B’jin had made do. Didn’t he always?

“R’nd, my love!” The greenrider’s voice rang out clearly, without any slur in spite of his lack of balance. The only answer he immediately got, however, was Larrikith landing lightly in Ayyonth’s section of the weyr, and sticking her head through the doorway, the curtain resting across the top of her head as she peered with oen eye at her drunken bonded. It would appear they’re out. she stated dryly; Larrikith couldn’t decide if she was amused by B’jin’s antics of getting raging drunk, or if she should be concerned.

The earlier part of the day had been spent visiting the Harper Hall, where B’jin had wandered around in a kind of awestruck silence before seeming ot randomly beeline at people, finding familiar faces amongst both the young and the old, though they both seemed to have a dour effect on the greenrider’s mood. Even Larrikith could admit that there was something depressing about finding the young students now aging teachers, and the men who were B’jin’s age were well into their years.

Despite that, however, B’jin had appeared to enjoy himself immensely, which was part of the reason Larrikith had been rather surprised to find B’jin drinking almost as soon as they landed back at home. She wasn’t too concerned; B’jin had been through worse and he’d always come out on the other side of it in one piece – if not in enough pieces to be pieced back together without issue – and she was quite sure this was no different.

Dropping the winebottle on the bed, and draining half the glass in one go, B’jin set it down with incredible care on the bedside table, before swinging his guitar around. Flopping on the bed, the greenrider curled up comfortably and began strumming the keys, fingers playing without the man picking a particular song consciously. Then he began to softly but clearly sing.

I see you in the distance and I see us as we are
So nearly so contented, but a careless word too far
I see you in confusion for a once enchanted boy
My heart dances, oh, oh, but not for joy

The song
All R'nd based power playing is pre-approved.

R’nd had spent most of the day out socializing as well, though he had meandered over to Fort Weyr instead of the Hold or Harper Hall. He had set up a day visiting Rhaedalyn with T’bia, since they both still seemed a bit too shy to actually get around to doing so themselves. It had become a sort of tradition since the first time he had arranged their meeting of each other but R’nd didn’t mind since he called them both friends as well and enjoyed time with them.

It had been good to get out of Telgar for a bit, though he had adapted easily with calling it home and even enjoyed lending a hand with getting the last little details finalized in the common areas. But some of his friends had gone to other Weyrs and R’nd wasn’t about to let locations put a damper on things when a little trip between fixed it all in seconds. So he had gathered up T’bia with some snacks and they headed to Fort to visit Rhaedalyn and check on Aradissicath who was once again sand bound. It had been a lot of fun and R’nd suspected the goldrider enjoyed getting away for a bit as well and it even looked like T’bia wasn’t as nervous around Alyren and Varlea as he sometimes seemed to be in the past. All in all, it was a good day and it ended with Rhaedalyn giving them each a sweet kiss to the cheek. R’nd saw how much it caused both of his friends to blush and he couldn’t resist a light chuckle.

Returning to Telgar Weyr saw the blueriders parting ways with a promise to get together in a couple of days for the dragons to have their own lunch date. R’nd was nearly bouncing with each step as he entered his weyr, pleased with the day and happy he had such good friends. A smile appeared when Ayyonth mentioned Larrikith was visiting, which likely meant B’jin was there as well. He peaked his head in to Ayyonth’s side to greet the plump green dragon and then left the dragons to their own devices as he went on the hunt for the greenrider.

R’nd took a moment to remove his jacket and boots, draping one over a chair and leaving the other neatly set beside it, and then paused as he caught one of his favourite sounds. The bouncing step returned as he headed for his bedroom where the guitar and singing was coming from. He paused by the door, hesitating to interrupt the moment. B’jin wasn’t exactly known to be shy when it came to performing but R’nd felt this time was a bit different and more just for the greenrider’s personal enjoyment while he killed time.

Even if he was wrong, R’nd leaned against the hall wall, quietly listening a little longer, enjoying both his lover’s voice and paying attention to the lyrics as B’jin had a way of truly telling the story the words represented until you got caught up in the moment. Finally, not wanting to be too much of a creeper – especially if Larrikith already ratted him out – R’nd appeared in the doorway, pausing a moment to take in the view of B’jin lying on the bed playing guitar and then sauntered over to the greenrider to sit by his legs. He wanted nothing more than to greet the man with a kiss but he also didn’t want to distract from the playing.

B’jin glanced up from where he was strumming at the guitar as he felt R’nd’s presence in the room, brown eyes clear and bright despite the amount of alcohol he had consumed. His cheeks were flushed with it, though, and the sad smile on his lips belied the mood that brought on the sad song. As he finished the guitar solo, B’jin took up the last verse of the song with emotion, letting his gaze slide away from R’nd to focus on nothing in particular. He shifted slightly so his legs were pressed against R’nd. His fingers came to stillness, and he held the guitar in silence for a moment, and then put it gently aside.

Grabbing the wine bottle, B’jin slithered across the bed to sit closer to R’nd, wrapping one leg around his lover, he nuzzled against R’nd’s neck, his breath thick with the sweet scent of wine. Gentle kisses were placed along the blueriders jawline, up a little to nip at the earlobe before B’jin made his way lightly back down jawline and onto the neck, puncturing his kisses with gentle nips. The greenrider’s right hand slid under the hem of R’nd’s shirt to splay cool fingers against his back, the left, refusing to give up the wine bottle, was resting in his own lap.

“I love you.” The three little words were murmured against R’nd’s ear, the tone partly apologetic and partly defiant, before B’jin’s lips sought R’nd’s in an almost desperate manner, echoed by the bruising force the fingers splayed against his lover’s back were exerting. Deciding to step in before R’nd could become any more confused or disarmed by her usually meek and passive rider’s rather demanding actions, Larrikith brushed lightly against the bluerider’s mind. He had a rough day, she informed him curtly. Meeting with some old friends. The intentional emphasis was all she was going to give for R’nd to figure out what was the cause of her bonded’s current state.

While Larrikith had been busy explaining, B’jin had managed to finish most of what was left in the wine bottle, and placed it lightly on the ground. With his dominate hand freed, the greenrider had made short work of the lacings at the neck of R’nd’s shirt, before moving with uncharacteristic boldness for his pants. When those, too, had lost the battle against B’jin’s nimble fingers, he gave R’nd a determined albeit gentle shove, forcing his lover to lie down as he straddled his hips. The greenrider’s touch was softer as he gently eased R’nd out of his shirt; fingertips running soothingly over his partner’s bared chest, B’jin leaned down to disperse scattered kisses and nips between the loving caresses as he worked his way lower.

Sliding off the bed, B’jin indicated without words for R’nd to lift his hips as he gave his pants a smart tug, pulling them halfway down his legs in a single motion. It only took a moment thereafter to get them off entirely, and dropped them to pool on the floor near his feet. Removing his own clothing with a lot less elegance – he wobbled dangerously as he tried to shuckle out of his pants – B’jin paused to gaze at R’nd with his head cocked slightly to one side, taking in the view with an expression of mingled appreciation, love, and lust. The bluerider was sprawled elegantly where he’d left him; his lover’s silence was appreciated – B’jin wasn’t sure he had any of the answers to any questions R’nd might ask.

Climbing back onto the bed, B’jin settled himself with quiet gentleness, straddling his lover’s thighs. He ran his fingers along R’nd’s sides, starting at his hips and ending at his armpits, before splaying his fingers across his chest and down the bluerider’s flat stomach, and then lower, as he leaned forward to steal R’nd’s lips in another kiss…

~

Humming a soft, contented sound against R’nd’s neck as his heartbeat settled into a more acceptable rhythm, B’jin placed a kiss on his lover’s cheek and snuggled a little closer, arms and legs still tangled together in a comforting way that reassured B’jin he wasn’t alone. The bittersweet agony of seeing so many faces that had aged so much while they’d been in the South had been pushed aside, replaced by the accepting warmth and affection shared between himself and the bluerider, and warmed further by both pleasure and embarrassment at the slightly awestruck expression on his lover’s face. In all their time together, B’jin had never been so forward in the bedroom, and certainly never to the extent of taking any form of control – the most control he’d ever shown was to say ‘no’ if he wasn’t feeling amorous, something that occurred almost never.

“Thank you,” he murmured gently, placing a butterfly’s kiss on the corner of R’nd’s lips.

R’nd hadn’t had time to really think on Larrikith’s explanation for B’jin’s mood before the greenrider was looking for a pleasant distraction. He had no objections, of course, always finding himself up for such intimacies with B’jin and with the way he had taken control, R’nd found he had completely forgotten about anything that may have been upsetting his lover and focused solely on pleasing the man and giving him what he wanted.

Now that they were curled up together, their limbs tangled together as much as the bedding was, R’nd found his mind wandering back to what had prompted the amazing romp. He still held no objections but worried a bit about what had happened that day. Larrikith had said something about old friends but she had said it oddly. His mind was still a bit muddled from what had just taken place and the way B’jin had behaved – none of which he classified as bad things – so he silently cuddled with his lover, trying to piece it all together. R’nd always had a terrible need to make sure his friends were happy and doing well and the fact that there might be something bothering B’jin bothered R’nd even more.

B’jin’s words of thanks came just as R’nd remembered what exactly the greenrider was going to do that day while he was out visiting Rhaedalyn. B’jin was at Harper Hall and old friends, as Larrikith had worded it, would indeed have two meanings behind it. R’nd had been lucky with returning to see his family after so long away. He had Impressed in his early twenties so while his aging had slowed thanks to the bond, he still looked somewhat his age and friends and relatives from his youth didn’t look that much older than him. B’jin, on the other hand, Impressed at twenty and was now a bit older than that so anyone he had known at that time would have aged normally and now show a few wrinkles and grey hair. R’nd didn’t really know how it would feel to go through that, seeing people your age that weren’t truly a reflection of how you looked as well. He knew he’d better get used to it though given the path he had chosen in life.

R’nd wasn’t really even sure what to say that would comfort B’jin but held the man a little tighter for a moment before relaxing his embrace again as he never liked making B’jin feel trapped. “Aw, love, thank me for what? I’m always here for you, even without these sort of unexpected yet very pleasant welcome homes,” he laughed softly and placed a kiss atop B’jin’s head. R’nd was all about manners but he really didn’t think he needed to be thanked for doing something he loved; like being with B’jin.

While locked away at Katila, it had been easy to forget that the rest of the world aged normally; almost everyone at Katila had been bonded to a dragon, and while there had been a decent number of those who were not destined for a dragon partner, they hadn’t been old enough to remind the rest of them that people without dragons tended to age, well, normally.

To be fair, B’jin really shouldn’t have forgotten something so straight forward, since he’d certainly gotten together with enough friends of the past since their return North that he’d been heartbroken to see aged. Lovers and teachers who had once been young and beautiful were now carrying the weight of years in the lines around their faces or in the grey of their hair. It had hurt, but naively, B’jin had not acknowledged that everyone from his past would have aged. Ever. Single. One.

“For being you,” B’jin offered simply in reply to his lover, warming the simple words with a gentle smile and a playful nuzzle, the tip of his nose brushing playfully against R’nd’s ear. Leaning back a little, B’jin brushed at R’nd’s mussed up hair with his left hand, his expression fondly amused. “You look adorable,” he teased, laughing softly as he sat up with a yawn; if he didn’t get himself upright he was going to fall asleep and never wake up again between the aftermath of their delicious activities, the weight of the wine still in his belly and the late hour.

Untangling himself gently from R’nd, B’jin settled back on the bed, a pillow stuffed between his back and the headboard, relaxed and at ease with his nakedness around his lover; it had taken a couple of years for the greenrider to let himself be comfortable without some type of cloth barrier between his body and his lovers eyes, but it had eventually come about. “How was your day?” While it was a generic question, the interest in B’jin’s brown eyes was far from a façade, and with his head tilted slightly to the side in curiosity the honestly was apparent.

God, B’jin feels like a stranger to me! This might take a bit to get back into the swing of lol.

R’nd was a bit confused at the response he was given and it showed in grey eyes that ended up sparkling with fondness at the ruffling of his hair and compliment. “Who else would I be?” R’nd teased in return, watching as B’jin made himself comfortable in his new position. The ease at which the greenrider went around doing so wasn’t lost on R’nd. He had noticed the slow progression from extremely shy and modest to what he’d classify as being relaxed and free but never commented on it. That was one thing he had learned about B’jin over the years; don’t point something out the man as it might startle him into reverting back to what was, even if it was meant to be a compliment. B’jin was an odd one to figure out but R’nd also knew he had been told that in the past as well thanks to some of his quirks,

At the question about his day, R’nd took the moment to hesitate in replying by getting himself situated as well, rolling onto his side and propping himself up on an elbow. He almost didn’t want to answer, knowing how B’jin’s day turned out but he also knew his lover wouldn’t appreciate being coddled in such a way that resulted in R’nd censoring himself. “It was nice,” he smiled and pushed his hair from his face. He was about due for a trim soon.

“I went to Fort Weyr to collect Bibi and Rhaedalyn for a picnic. The poor dear is Sand bound again and those two are adorable friends but don’t seem to know how to be friends without me chaperoning them,” R’nd laughed with a slight shake of his head as he lightly teased his friends. They were both rather shy and even awkward that they really did seem to need someone more outgoing to keep them from sitting in silence all afternoon.

“Her girls came with us as well, which was surprisingly fun as well. I might see if the girls want to come with me to visit Eridella and Benden soon,” R’nd paused for a moment and then with another soft laugh added, “if R’nya allows it.” He wasn’t sure if the bronzerider had picked up on it or not, but R’nd had started to see a pattern of Rhaedalyn attracting blueriders as friends, which would be seen as trouble to some of the riders of the bronze and brown persuasion. After all, blueriders were horrible flirts and influences, R’nd mused as he danced his fingertips down B’jin’s thigh.

“T’bia was never particularly outgoing,” B’jin agreed, frowning thoughtfully as he reminisced on the class that the young bluerider had been a member of. He wasn’t sure he would have been able to complete that particular year without R’nd stepping in and helping with the unwittingly troubled child. The questions that boy had asked! B’jin wasn’t sure any of his teachings had been heard, let alone stayed in his apparently empty head. The child was sweet, but B’jin was quite convinced he was also remarkably stupid.

A slight smirk pulled up the corner of B’jin’s lips at the mention of Benden and the beautiful Eridella. “He’s almost six now, isn’t he?” B’jin asked, knowing full well the answer, though not because he kept tabs on the little boy. His relationship with R’nd had started roughly around the time Volfetti had come forward with the boy; a fact B’jin wasn’t about to remind R’nd of. While his blueriding lover was better at handling B’jin’s need to inform him he loved him, the greenrider wasn’t at all sure R’nd would handle the knowledge that he’d been in a relationship for almost six years. B’jin wasn’t even sure R’nd had slept with anyone else in that time – impressive, considering R’nd’s once-playboy status.

“Amorandii’s birthday is in four days.” B’jin gave R’nd a sideways look. The little girl had let slip sometime in the past couple of years that R’nd shared her birthday. At first, B’jin had been disappointed that R’nd hadn’t confided that information to him, now he just viewed it as a fun secret he could play with while he waited for R’nd to spill the beans. He was particularly looking forward to the bluerider’s face when he said ‘I know’ to him... “Apparently, turning ten is a big deal, and both Andeleen and Amarilla have sent notes that we’re to attend.” A slow smirk. “I hope you’re not busy?” Reaching down, B’jin wove his fingers through R’nd’s, pausing the rather distracting fingertips. “You could bring Benden and the girls, I’m sure Andi would be thrilled.”

R’nd nodded at B’jin’s question about Benden’s age, only slightly afraid to confirm it aloud. He had accepted the fact that he was a father a while and was even growing more comfortable as each day passed with the age of his sons. Benden turning six was still a lot easier to handle than T’ryn turning fifteen though. It wasn’t so much a depressing thought, but one he couldn’t quite comprehend as not only did he have a son that was now old enough to be a dragonrider but time itself was simply flying by on him.

Luckily, B’jin brought up Amorandii’s approaching birthday to help stop R’nd’s train of thought about numbers and ages directly connected to himself. Amorandii was a pleasant indirect connection that he always brightened at hearing about. The little girl had drawn him in rather easily and R’nd always enjoyed spoiling her and hearing about her adventures. “I’m never too busy for my favourite young lady,” R’nd drew their joined hands to his lips to place a kiss on B’jin’s knuckles and set them back down again.

“I’ll pass the message on. I think they’d enjoy going as well.” It’d also give him a chance to remind his dear sister that he didn’t celebrate his own birthday and to keep playing mum on the subject if anyone ever asked. Though he suspected Volfetti wouldn’t be overly curious until Benden started questioning it but R’nd figured he could avoid that a bit longer. He just didn’t want a big deal to be made out of the day, especially since it was also Amorandii’s birthday. B’jin didn’t need to pick between them or try to divide the day equally in order to spend time with them both and R’nd was happy with people left guessing when it was.

R’nd rolled onto his back and put his free hand behind his head, staring at the ceiling as he thought about what needed to be done. “I still need to get Amorandii a gift, though I’m not sure what to get a lady of ten. I suppose a dress would do but I’ll consult with my sister and see what other items are must haves.”

B’jin’s expression softened notably as R’nd placed a soft kiss on his knuckles, and the greenrider shifted to curl closer to his lover, stretching one leg lazily over R’nd’s, resting his head on R’nd’s shoulder as he watched their hands. Half listening to R’nd’s words, and half to the soft rumble of his voice through his chest, B’jin smiled lazily, though the expression was broken when he laughed with sudden amusement at R’nd.

“I don’t think she needs any more dresses, love.” The greenrider had seen Amorandii’s wardrobe since she’d been fostered by his sister, and he was quite positive that Lady Amarilla had played no small part in filling the child’s collection with dresses in every style and colour available; B’jin hadn’t even known some of those dyes existed! “I took her to get fitted for a new pair of boots last week. You can co-sign if you want.” Half teasing, half serious, B’jin licked R’nd’s cheek and laughed, pleased with his teasing. The idea of R’nd settling down enough to have a gift be from both of them and not bring one of his own amused B’jin. He wasn’t against such a thing, he just didn’t think R’nd was quite ready for that step yet – even if it had been six years.

“She doesn’t have much jewellery,” B’jin offered, cuddling close again and listening contentedly to the sound of R’nd breathing. “I had planned to get A’dris to make her some glass beads for a necklace, but he’s been busy.” The greenrider was clearly grumbling as he spoke; while he’d apparently outgrown his crush on the young bronzerider, the fact that the man was too busy to make a gift for Amorandii didn’t sit too well with B’jin. His daughter was important, and it was important that she got the best gifts his lousy Weyrlingmaster wage could buy her!

“Maybe you’d have better luck?” Lifting his head, B’jin placed a kiss on R’nd’s jawline, moving along to nuzzle against his ear with warm breath, breathing soft laughter, his insulted feelings from moments before clearly forgotten. “He’s not scared of you.” Somehow, the bronzerider had heard by some obscure means of B’jin’s opinion on the man (who didn’t find the kid attractive?!). It had been Turns and Turns, but something about it seemed to worry young A’dris. B’jin giggled again, using his free hand to roam down R’nd’s chest. Well, it was A’dris’ problem and B’jin was more than happy with the lover he’d found in R’nd.

“Hmm, maybe,” R’nd considered the offer, smiling slightly at the lick to his cheek but too lost in thought to really take much more notice of it. It may have been due to his playboy nature and lack of real understanding over what couples did, but he wasn’t adverse to the idea of a joint gift because it meant serious commitment. In fact, if they were discussing N’mor’s birthday, R’nd would have been all over the idea of signing a card from both B’jin and him since the boy still scared him and he had no idea what to get. “I don’t want Amorandii to have one less gift because I couldn’t think of something wonderful for her,” he finally stated with a frown before B’jin tossed out an idea.

R’nd was going to point out that A’dris likely wasn’t afraid of B’jin, because really, who could be afraid of him? But he held his tongue in the end as memories of a time when he was rather awkward around the greenrider came back to him and how it could have been seen as being afraid. In a way, he supposed it was fear. The fear of rejection and abandonment he struggled with since the Plague and perhaps even earlier than that given how he sometimes felt his father approve of actions as much as he did his siblings.

“That, my dear, is a wonderful idea!” Jewellery was something he could work with and A’dris was a man he could approach; although he was a Weyrleader now which meant he was definitely busy now. Still, if that fell through, he’d ask Eridella where she bought her necklaces and he’d go from there.

“Brilliant and beautiful,” R’nd complimented and finally started to pay more attention to the little nibbles of affection. With a few easy movements, R’nd switched their positions so B’jin was on his back once more and the bluerider was looming over him with a twinkle of lustful mischief in his eyes. “Do you have an early start tomorrow, love?”

“You’re welcome,” B’jin chirped, delighted that R’nd liked the idea, and pleased that Amorandii would be getting a lovely gift from the bluerider. He didn’t doubt R’nd would have come through on his own, but he was also glad to turn him away from getting the girl another dress; Amorandii loved R’nd far too much to be unhappy with any gift he gave her, but there really were only so many dresses a young lady such as she could fit into her wardrobe!

Distracted, B’jin let out a yip of surprise when R’nd was suddenly rearranging their positions, and he stared up at his lover with wide eyes, though a smile was threatening to win the war and claim control of his lips. “One does one’s best,” he teased, sliding his hands up R’nd’s chest and over his shoulders, enjoying the familiar feel of his lover’s body.

B’jin was distracted into a bark of delighted laughter at R’nd’s playful question, with the greenrider grinning brightly up at R’nd, his eyebrows arching playfully. “Early? Me?” He laughed gleefully, and wrapped both arms around R’nd’s neck, pulling himself closer to his lover’s face so he could kiss him on the tip of his nose before peering at him critically. “Who are you, and what have you done with my bluerider?” loosening his grip, B’jin fell back against the pillows and let his hands roam down R’nd’s sides with gentle strokes.

R’nd laughed in return when B’jin questioned him for his own question. He knew neither one of them were early risers but sometimes duty dictated it happen and R’nd wanted to ensure B’jin didn’t have to be anywhere important first thing in the morning. He’d hate to make weyrlings wait and have the greenrider give off a bad impression because he’d been up all night being ravished by a very attentive and skilled bluerider.

“You are more than welcome to search for him if you’d like,” R’nd purred from the gentle touch down his sides. “It sounds like we’ll have plenty of time to do so,” a wicked grin appeared briefly before R’nd dipped his head down to start nibbling along B’jin’s collar bone. No matter how the day may have gone for B’jin, R’nd was determined to end the day on a high note for his lover and wipe away any lingering sadness.

M18+ Warning

Untitled Document

Second Pass is rated M18+

Before exploring our forums, we would like to take a moment to warn you that while most of our RP is PG rated, we do allow for heavy subject matter to be posted, and not all of it will come with a warning in the header. Please take care when browsing our threads, and be sure to look after yourseylf. If anything in a thread makes you uncomfortable, please leave it.

Please note that all our Players communicate between themselves, and all threads are done between concenting adults. Second Pass takes no responsibility for any personal offence taken from subject matter within the site's boards, and if there are any issues between Players the Team should be notified immediately and privately.

To recap, this website may contain mature themes, course language, strong violence, nudity, drug usage, and other material that may be offensive to selected individuals.

Regards, SP Team
